The Pilgrim – “Someone has to tame this wild land.”
Pilgrims represent a wide variety of people, though they
all share a desire to contribute to their people and the land.
They are farmers, merchants, hunters, or any other profession
that you may find in a village – using their knowledge to tame
the land, build something lasting & sustainable, and take care
of the people living there. Starting as a pilgrim you likely lead
a comparatively peaceful life, avoiding most wartime events
but fighting your own battles against the wilderness and its
harsh obstacles. You are the backbone of post-apocalyptic
society and what everyone is fighting to protect.
Pilgrim abilities expand on and enhance one’s capabilities to
farm & shape the land, as well as one’s aptitude for dealing
with the common folk; those who struggle to survive and provide for family and clan alike.
1st rank- Basic Necessities: The Pilgrim knows where to find and how to gather safe drinking water & food. Years of dealing with unforgiving environments has taught the Pilgrim to gather dew on plants for water, to spot a safe natural spring, which berries to eat, and which animals are worth hunting.
2nd rank- This Little Plot of Mine: The Pilgrim knows how to set up, and operates, a small farm or a basic shop or craftsman’s stall. This can provide resources in the form of food, income, or finished goods.
3rd rank- Of the People: The Pilgrim is a friend of the people. Commoners, farmers, and folk just going about their business feel an immediate kinship with the Pilgrim. He speaks their language, he knows their plight, and he has their ear.
4th rank- Of the Land: The Pilgrim has a special relationship with the land. It provides crops, clues for where to hunt prey, and natural defenses. Rather than battling to overcome the wasteland, the Pilgrim can shape and use it to his advantage.
5th rank- We ARE the people: Demonstrating mastery over his environment & genuine dedication to its people, the Pilgrim has gained immense levels of trust from the villagers or common folk he helps. Entire communities are willing to rally behind the Pilgrim, should he request and have sound reason to call upon them. Perhaps they’ll even erect a town statue in his honor!
